Evaluation 3 - What have you learned from your audience feedback?
Evaluation 3 - What have you learned from your audience feedback?
'Overall we gathered very positive responses from our target audience. Many positive comments expressed how the pace of our promo was very engaging as it was in sync with the instrumental. Others commented on how clear and nicely framed each and every one of our shots were. The shots taken in the white studio with the reflected images were highly liked by our audience. I believe that our audience took a particular liking towards the studio shots, because it compliments our indie genre which we were trying to achieve. Although the majority of our feedback was positive, we were also informed on the weaker parts of our production. A member of our audience feedback group picked up on our inaccurate lip syncing. We agree that this was one of the weaker parts of our production. But with further analysis, the lip syncing isn't out of time on every lyric, it is only inaccurate on two of the lines sung by our female actress. Our audience also noticed that a few of our rose shots were slightly unsteady. We found it rather difficult inserting and forming the time-lapse as the roses were images, not video clips so the software couldn't perform various actions such as slow motion'.
Here are the responses from our target audience aged between 16 and 24:
Strengths:
Question asked: 'Please can you comment on the strengths of our music video'? - (Below are comments from our target audience)
"The timings of your shots were very impressive, they fitted perfectly with the audio which engaged me. I loved all your shots, especially the clip of the swans flying just above the water. I thought the reversing of the swans was impressive as it was completely unexpected and was in sync with the music".
"The shots of the roses were beautiful and linked with your 'conceptual' themed video very well. I like how your female actress is seen to be singing and acting in various locations, I think it fitted nicely with her state of mind an mixed emotions".
"There was a strong build up to the two meeting, once again it was very unexpected which gave the video an element of excitement. As soon as the characters meet all shots are filtered to black and white. This resembled the song name 'Night Time' perfectly".
"I think you considered the lighting within the every shot and due to this your video appears very crisp and professional."
Weaknesses:
Question asked: 'Please can you comment on the weaker parts of our music video'?
" At time your lip syncing was out of time, but it wasn't too obvious"
" Shots of the roses were slightly blurry, although they were very nicely framed"
" There could have been more various shots of your male actor in the studio, i.e showing more emotion".
Below are some screen shots from members of our audience which partook in our feedback:
Male Demographic:
This is a screen shot of me asking a friend aged '19' if they could possibly view our music video and give us some feedback. |
Here is my friends response. It's nice to hear that the colouring of our piece was noticed. This is because it took many hours adjusting each frame to the right colour. |
Female Demographic:
Here is my friends response. I am really
pleased to hear that she visibly saw a clear
link towards the indie genre.

Here is my friends response. I'm glad to hear that
the inaccurate lip singing was only
noticeable once within our music video.

If we had the chance to improve our piece, what would we do differently?
If we had the chance to carry out this task again, there would be a few things I would have done differently. I would have allowed more time for reahersal so that our female actress could spend more time matching her lips to the sound of the artists voice. The main issue with the lip syncing, was the fact that the artists voice sounded too mature for our actress. So maybe we'd consider matching our actress with our artists voice before choosing a song. I would perhaps try to create more of a flow within our video, the short snappy shots were very engaging, however I think they might have appeared a little too random at times. But overall I am really pleased with the promo we produced. I loved being able to be creative by producing a conceptual video as it allowed us think outside the box, and not be restricted.
